"The focus of this project is on the effectiveness of those criminal law provisions that protect official information. It is important to realise that not all information held by government is protected by the criminal law. As this report demonstratess, criminalisation is limited to the unauthorised disclosure of those categories of information that have implications for the national interest. It also limited to those working within or alongside government who have been trained in how to handle sensitive information."--
