General social survey cumulative file, 1972-1984
Description
The Roper Center for Public Opinion Research has made available a cumulative dataset merging eleven years of General Social Surveys into a single file, with each year constituting a subfile. The survey covers items viewed by the NORC staff and an advisory panel of sociologists as "mainstream" interests of modern academic sociology. In addition to standard personal data items, most surveys cover such areas of interest as race relations, the family, socioeconomic status, social control, stratification, and mobility, leisure activities, sex relations, education, morale, violence, and pornography. The General Social Surveys were conducted by the National Opinion Research Center (NORC).
