Demographic, social, educational and economic data for France, 1833-1925
Description
More than 130 datasets (approximately 1,000,000 card-image equivalents), prepared under a project to automate major portions of the Statistique Generale de la France, are available for use. This project was a continuation of an earlier project which collected census, vital statistics, and primary education data for France, 1801-1897, (Social, Demographic, and Educational Data for France, 1801-1897--ICPSR 0048). Included in the purview of this project is the preparation of computer-readable data from the following published statistical series: (1) Reports on primary education, 1833, 1901, and 1906 (2) Vital statistics, selected years from 1900-1925 (3) Quinquennial census of 1901, 1906, 1911, and 1921 (4) Secondary and higher education in the 19th century (5) Reports on industrial activity, 1861-1896 All datasets from the series listed above have been completely processed and are available for use. Documentation for these datasets is available in computer-readable form which can be supplied upon request. Printed documentation detailing the variables contained in the entire collection is also available.
