Census data for planning and service areas, 1980

Description

This file, prepared by ICPSR, contains 1980 data for the 679 Planning and Service Areas (PSAs) in the United States and Puerto Rico. Data for all 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, and for each of the approximately 4,000 New England towns, counties, and county equivalents in the United States and Puerto Rico were subset from Summary Tape File 1 and aggregated to the PSA-level. The file contains 312 substantive data variables organized in the form of 53 ''tables,'' as well as geographic codes for region, state code, PSA, and land area. The remaining STF 1 geographic codes and the six tables representing median values are not included. The 322 variables are arrayed in logical record format and are accompanied by an OSIRIS dictionary and machine-readable and hard copy codebooks.
