Book
History of the Munros of Fowlis
Description
Family tradition states that the Munros were of ancient Scots and were banished from Scotland by the Romans. They fled to Ireland and the western isles and then returned several centuries later. Tradition also credits O'Cathan, an ancient Irish chief and Prince of Fermanagh, as the founder of the Munros of Fowlis. A descendant of O'Cathan, Hugh Munro (d.1126) was made the first Baron of Fowlis, which title has remained in the family ever since. Descendants live throughout Great Britain, United States and Canada.
