The author reconstructs aspects of the material and form of texts in the ancient and late antique periods, while providing an analysis of cultural history as it relates to books, including discussion of the influence of Greek books on Roman ones, the transition from the roll to the codex, and the phenomena of bilingualism and digraphism.
