Soledad Álvarez (1950), a poet and essayist, and the author of the poetry collections Vuelo posible (1994) and Las estaciones íntimas (2006, Premio Nacional de Poesía Salomé Ureña). Her published essays include La magna patria de Pedro Henríquez Ureña: una interpretación de su americanismo (1980, Premio Siboney de Literatura).
