Vlisco

Description

Vlisco, founded in 1846 and based in Helmond, is one of the oldest textile companies in the Netherlands. The company manufactures textiles in a process akin to the Indonesian batik. Initially, the former Dutch East Indies was the most important market for Vlisco textiles, but since the beginning of the twentieth century the primary market has been Africa, especially a group of countries in West and Central Africa: Ghana, Togo, Benin, Nigeria, Congo, and Ivory Coast.
