Description

A collection of Luigi Piacente's textual criticism on Cicero's writings and their influence. Particular attention has been paid to the history of the tradition of oratory, allowing the author to identify some new fragments and replace them in their original contexts. All of the essays have been revised and updated in the light of subsequent research. Two chapters are completely new: a chapter on the unusual length of Cicero's In Verrem, and a chapter on the influence of Cicero's orations in the works of some of the most significant Christian writers.
